Seven Palacios Museum
Near the castle, the Casco Antiquo, often known as Almunecar's "ancient town," is where you'll find the archaeological museum. The building was built in the first century A.D. when the Romans lived in the region.
The vaults that were constructed produced a dome-like effect that the natives named "caves." Some of these caves are still occupied today. According to popular belief, the official name of the museum, "Cueva de Siete Palacios," refers to the "caves" and a central "vault" feature that is spanned by seven other smaller vaults.
